A Linux administrator is a back-end IT specialist who installs, configures, and maintains Linux operating systems. Job responsibilities may include installing and configuring Linux systems including back-end databases and scripts, performing system maintenance by reviewing error logs and creating system backups. They also monitor system performance to prevent slowdowns and crashes and provide technical support and maintain system security.

MedCerts Linux Administrator program is designed to allow students to learn the fundamentals of Linux system administration and how to secure enterprise servers and support cloud-based servers by gaining experience in the configuration, management, and troubleshooting of Linux servers. This program provides students with the skills and knowledge required to pass the CompTIA Linux+ certification exam – the cost of which is covered by MedCerts.

In this course, students learn to configure and manage software, storage, and processes and services in a Linux server environment Students will also learn the security best practices for permission and authentication, firewall, and file management techniques. They will also learn how to conduct version control using Git and how to conduct orchestration and automation. Finally, students will learn how to troubleshoot Linux servers and how to analyze system properties, processes, and to troubleshoot user, application, and hardware issues.

Students enrolling in this course should have at least 9 months of hands-on Linux experience and at least 1.5 years of IT experience in other computing environments. This certification is ideal for those pursuing a career in network administration, cybersecurity analysis, cloud computing administration, scripting or automation.

The CompTIA Linux+ course is designed to introduce viewers to the tasks required to support Linux in the workplace. The course covers topics ranging from installing software, troubleshooting hardware, managing disk volumes, hardening servers and more. Each of these topics are presented in a distribution agnostic manner suitable for Debian, Ubuntu, Red Hat, CentOS, Fedora and others.

Within this course, MedCerts training partner (ACI Learning) delivers highly engaging video content resulting in a comprehensive learning experience that sets graduates up for certification succees. The learning experience is unique, leveraging a "talk show" style delivery which is highly engaging and produced by the industry's top subject matter experts resulting in content that is engaging, conversational, convenient, and effective.

This course also contains integrated access to Practice Labs where students can gain real-world experience with Linux servers. The CompTIA Linux+ Practice Lab will provide learners with the necessary platform to gain hands on skills in Linux operating systems. By completing the lab tasks, learners will improve practical skills in configuring, monitoring, and supporting servers running the Linux OS, applying/acquiring the appropriate permissions and ownership, summarizing best practices, analyze and troubleshoot issues within Linux and deploying and executing scripts. These same tasks will help learners understand the objectives and competencies required by the CompTIA Linux+ certification exam.
